Evolving Improvisations NFT

Absolutely new, one and only collection of music NFTs
that integrate music and NFTs in an art-oriented way

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) have been creating a huge buzz recently.
Revolutionizing the concept of ownership in the digital space, it is considered as a breakthrough in how creators engage with art fans, collectors and the whole society.

While the most popular NFTs are in the art space, musicians are also coming into the NFT community gradually.

As primary implications of NFTs to the musicians community are providing nouvelle ways of music/perks distribution and  revenue generation, current interests of musicians around NFTs are (not all but) mainly on this side of things: revolutionizing music marketing and fan engagement.

This is really important to the music artists and the industry, but I noticed that it doesn't have any implications on MUSIC. I felt it is my duty as an artist to dig into this deeper:

If you are to use NFTs in music, it should not be arbitrary from the perspective of music as an art form. OK then, I will create a something integrating music and NFT in a philosophical/art-oriented way, something that uses NFTs in a way to enrich music expression itself. But how...?

As an idea, I decided to focus on improvisations and their EVOLUTION.


Improvisation is the unique art form in music created with inputs from: artists' experiences, emotions, musicality and the atmosphere of the surrounding environment, using music as the language to convey feelings or messages you have to say, like in day to day conversations using natural language.

Why did I chose this topic? Because each improvisation is a unique and non-repeatable music experience.
These characteristics blend really well with the notions of non-fungibility and irreversibility in NFTs on the conceptual level: arguably far better than any other existing aspect in music expression.

Also, I noticed that the concepts of generations and variations(utilities) are extremely popular in current art NFT projects: the basic concept(like... apes?...lol) that is kept throughout the entire collection is enriched by rare utilities and generational differences.
Hm, this might also be interesting things to incorporate...

So, Here we go.

Given an arbitrary theme (like scenery in a photo, emotions, memories or a word), we record a pure improvisation and call it Variation 1, Generation 1. From there, improvisations start to EVOLVE.


Variations are "horizontal": we record several improvisations on the same theme. They are similar but not the same (think about normal and shiny Pokemons).
Generations are "vertical": for each improvisation, we will add more musical context like counter-melodies, harmonies and rhythms to enrich our music experience (think about evolving Pokemons).


For example, if we have 3 variations of pure improvisations from a given scenery and 3 generations for each of them, they will constitute 9 non-repeatable representations of the feelings from experiencing the same scenery.

My collection records the journey of such improvisations and their evolution. This is a truly unique challenge in music NFTs. Start this new journey of sounds with "Evolving Improvisation NFT", experience the new type of music NFTs!!

Evolving Improvisation example

It might be easier to grasp the idea by actually listening to an example. 

The first video is a pure improvisation(1st generation): it is played with no preparations whatsoever, generated only from feelings and memories evoked from the image.

The second video is the "4th generation evolution" from the first one. Each new generation contributes to enriching the musical context of the original pure improvisation: counter melodies, harmonies, bass lines, rhythm...

If you compare these two, you will notice how they are similar but different at the same time. By following each generation, we can experience how the original pure improvisation evolves gradually into a "piece". You can check out each evolution step below, where the whole collection is listed.

This collection proposes not just new expression form in music, but also how we consume it.
Unlikely to traditional music consumption, this is consumed going back and forth between tracks,
analyzing similarities and differences and feeling the evolutionary nature of music presented in this collection.
Imagine yourself being in an art museum, going back and forth within one pavilion with art pieces with similar theme, philosophy or genre.

This collections is creating somewhat similar experience but just for music.
This is nouvelle and not widelu accepted but really important challenge to understand the horizons
of how we appreciate music.
